Asda launches first-ever Meal Deal
Now, Asda is launching its own Meal Deal, which will be available in-store and online from Wednesday (September 17).
The new offer, which replaces the 3 for 2 deal at Asda’s Food to Go counters, will include a main, snack, and drink, all for the fixed price of £3.74.
This deal will allow customers to save 50% in comparison to buying the items individually outside of the deal.
Asda’s new Meal Deal is also the cheapest among all the major supermarkets (non-membership prices), including Tesco (£4.25), Sainsbury’s (£3.95), and Morrisons (£4).
All products available with the Meal Deal are included in the set price, with 132 Mains, 336 Snacks, and 222 Drinks to choose from.

The Meal Deal, which will also be on sale at all 478 Asda Express stores, will feature the likes of the supermarket’s own ‘to go’ products, along with branded favourites from the likes of Coca Cola and Doritos.
The Buyer of Food to Go at Asda, Amy Wotherspoon, said: “At Asda, we believe great value should be available to everyone.
“That’s why we’re launching the new £3.74 Meal Deal that is completely open to all customers – with no app or membership required, and a big range of products to choose from so there’s something for everyone.”
Simple ways to shop sustainably and save money
Asda is predicting to sell more than 700,000 Meal Deals in the first week.
Tesco increases the price of its Meal Deals
News of Asda’s new offer comes just weeks after Tesco increased the price of its Meal Deals by 25p.
The price of a meal deal at Tesco increased from £4 to £4.25 for non-Clubcard members on August 21.
Those who are part of the supermarket’s loyalty scheme now have to pay £3.85, up from £3.60.

Meanwhile, its premium Meal Deals now cost £5.50 for Clubcard holders and £5.50 for those without one.
The latest price hike did not go down well with shoppers, with some threatening to “boycott” buying Tesco Meal Deals.
One person, posting on Reddit group r/Tesco , said: “Lord above give me the strength this is ridiculous. What exactly am I saving here less than 50p. Stiring up my rage OP LOL.”

Another added: “I will be boycotting the meal deal from when this hike occurs.”
A third shopper commented: “All the supermarkets raising their meal deal prices is so so so stupid, why would you not want to be the best price? Greed vs greed.”
