Emma Aldington, 36, of Argyle Road IG1 was issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after appearing at Romford Magistrates’ Court on December 11, 2024.
The CBO follows Aldington being charged with seven charges for theft, as well as five further offences for theft.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the 36-year-old has been “a persistent shoplifter in the Ilford Town Centre area” for several years.
Local businesses and residents have faced disruption after thousands of pounds worth of items were stolen from shops in the High Street and The Exchange.
The order will last for three years, expiring on December 11, 2027.
Matthew Ross, Ilford Town centre Team Insp, said: “These orders are vital in preventing people with the intent to commit crime coming into the town centre.

“On this occasion this prolific offender has caused businesses to lose thousands of pounds.
“With help from businesses, Ilford BID and the CPS, we were able to obtain this order from the court to prevent further crime.”
Aldington is not permitted to enter the area defined by a map, including Ilford High Road, Cranbrook Road, The Exchange shopping centre, and more unless for a professional appointment.
