The 36-year-old former two-time unified world heavyweight champion is in a stable condition in a hospital in Lagos after the accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday morning.
It has since been confirmed that two members of his team, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, were killed in the crash.
A spokesperson for Mr Joshua said: “It is with the deepest and most profound sadness that we confirm, following a road traffic accident in Lagos, Nigeria, earlier today, the death of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.
“Both were close friends and integral members of Anthony’s team.
“We respectfully ask that space and privacy be given to the families at this time while they process this truly shocking and devastating news.
“Anthony sustained injuries in the accident and was taken to the hospital for checks and treatment.”
It has been reported that the boxer has been taken back to the UK for further treatment.
Joshua, from Watford, was on holiday in Nigeria following his victory over Jake Paul on December 19.
Paul sent a tribute to Joshua and his team after the incident.
RIP Sina Ghami and Kevin “Latif / Latz” Ayodele. My thoughts and prayers are with their families and friends and AJ.

Hours before the crash, both Joshua and Ayodele had shared Instagram footage of themselves playing table tennis.
Officials in Nigeria confirmed that the boxer was receiving care after the crash.
A joint statement from the governments of Ogun and Lagos states said: “Anthony Joshua and another passenger were immediately evacuated to a specialised medical facility in Lagos.
“Following comprehensive clinical assessments, doctors have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency medical intervention at this time.
“A full medical team has been assembled and will continue to monitor them closely.
“Anthony Joshua is conscious and has been in communication with his family.
“Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident have also commenced.”
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) of Nigeria said the Lexus Jeep involved in the crash is believed to have been exceeding the speed limit.
The car reportedly lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre and crashed into a stationary truck.
Joshua was born in Watford to Nigerian parents and spent part of his childhood in Nigeria before returning to the UK at the age of 12.
He has won 29 of his 33 professional fights and returned to the ring earlier this month after a 15-month absence to defeat YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami.
The British boxing star has since suggested a potential bout with British boxer Tyson Fury in 2026.
