The new mural, in Priory Court Estate, was designed by artist INSA alongside the Digital Story Company and Wood Street Walls, with input from estate residents.
The mural is the first permanent one in the estate’s 80-year history and features designs based on stories, memories, and ideas from more than 60 residents.

As well as the designs, residents helped to create the mural, with young people learning painting and animation techniques.
There is also hand-sewn ornamentation by estate group the Bees Knees.
The mural can be viewed through INSA’s GIF-ITI Viewer app, which allows people to see the animated aspects.
INSA said: “My goal at the beginning when we started was that if I was going to do a community mural, I would want the community to feel engaged and pleased and proud.”
Ahsan Khan, Waltham Forest Council’s deputy leader, said the mural “shows what’s possible when we give young voices the space to lead”.
He added: “Young people learned new skills, shared their ideas, and helped create something lasting for their community.”
