The streaming platform has said that customers can expect more realistic images and greater detail as part of the move, but that they will need a new and sought-after gadget to make the most of this.
Samsung’s new Micro RGB TV offering was recently unveiled and ranges from 55 inches to a whopping 130 inches.
The tech giant said the TV represents a “monumental leap in scale and picture quality” and that it uses a whole new technology to give viewers “lifelike” colours.
Amazon Prime Video users to get massive picture quality boost later this year
This new technology involves using red, green and blue LEDs that each emit different lights independently, making it very different to standard LED-backlit sets.
This upgrade will be even more noticeable on Amazon Prime Video, with the streaming platform looking to become the first to support HDR10+ Advanced.
Discussing the change, BA Winston, VP of Technology at Prime Video, said: “HDR10+ Advanced marks a transformative leap in streaming picture quality, and we’re thrilled to pioneer support for this new technology on Prime Video.”
They added: “We will offer HDR10+ Advanced on select titles from Prime Video’s extensive catalogue of award-winning programming, with plans to expand availability across our library in the future.”
