This year it commences on Monday, September 22.
Bexley Fostering has arranged many opportunities over the week open for everyone to attend.
On September 22, there is a coffee morning held at the Marriott Hotel, Bexleyheath, from 10am-12pm, providing an informal opportunity where people are encouraged to attend and speak to individuals with real lived experience regarding fostering.
On September 24 and September 25, there are more outreach opportunities within the community as the Bexley Fostering team will be providing more insight on how fostering can make a difference at the heart of the town, Bexleyheath Broadway.
Additionally, the Bexley Foster team is offering an online information session on both nights from 6.30 to 8.30pm, providing the opportunity for those who cannot attend the events in person with an opportunity to learn and get involved.
These online sessions run continuously throughout the year.
The eventful week concludes with the Bexley Fostering partnering with Bexley Park Run on Saturday 27, where the fostering team and carers will be supporting participants and raising further awareness of the need for more Foster Carers in Bexley from 9am.
Regarding the goals and importance of the week, Councillor Chris Taylor, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “Foster carers make an incredible difference to children’s lives, providing safety, stability, and love when it’s needed most.
“Bexley Fostering Week is a wonderful opportunity to thank our carers and to encourage more local people to consider fostering.”
Despite the fun-filled week, it serves to support those already involved in foster care and shine a light on the need for more carers in Bexley.
