Part of Aldi’s nationwide rollout between November 6 and December 12, 2025, the move will see the retailer expand its reach across more UK communities.
Shoppers in Kentish Town will soon have access to Aldi’s well-known low prices, fresh British produce, and popular Specialbuys.
Aldi, now the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, is investing £650 million into new store openings and refurbishments this year, with each site expected to create around 40 jobs.
Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi, we’re focused on making affordable, high-quality food accessible to as many people as possible – and opening new stores is at the heart of how we do that.”
He added: “Launching 16 new stores in just over five weeks is a significant milestone for our business and a clear demonstration of the pace and ambition behind our growth plans.
“It means more communities will benefit from Aldi’s value and choice in the weeks ahead and beyond.”
The arrival of Aldi in Kentish Town residents may go some way to replacing rival chain Lidl’s closed branch in Kentish Town Road in February 2024.
That site, later taken over by the Mighty Pound shop, was deemed “no longer fit for purpose” by Lidl.
To support its expansion, Aldi has also begun recruiting more than 4,500 store colleagues across the UK.
New hires will help restock shelves, serve customers, and keep operations running smoothly through the busy Christmas period.
The Kentish Town branch is among three new London stores opening before Christmas, alongside sites in Old Kent Road and Uxbridge.
Elsewhere, new Aldi stores are also planned for Tyne and Wear, Gloucestershire, and North Yorkshire.
