The Old Kent Road branch is among other stores that Aldi is opening on December 11, including also Uxbridge, Northallerton and Pershore.
A fifth store will open in Yate, Bristol the following day and in combination the five new stores will offer a total of 200 new jobs to the UK.
The addition of the new store is set to offer shoppers a new grocery destination with fresh British produce on offer at competitive prices.
The new store joins Aldi’s current 1,070 stores across the UK, with the retailer pushing ahead with ambitious expansion plans, aiming to reach 1,500 stores nationwide in future years.
Aldi was recently named Which? Cheapest Supermarket for November, marking the fourth year in a row the retailer has held the title, and was also crowned Christmas Retailer of the Year for the sixth consecutive year at the Quality Food Awards.
Jon Neale, Real Estate Managing Director at Aldi UK, said: “Opening any new store is exciting, but opening five in 24 hours, just before Christmas, will make a huge difference for customers in each of these areas.
“It reflects the demand we’re seeing right across the UK and the scale of our ambition as we continue to grow.”
