Air India Plane: Flight to London Gatwick from Ahmedabad crashes

The flight was AI171 and at least 242 people were on board the flight, local police have said.

Police have said that the plane crashed in a “civilian area” outside the airport in western India.

Sky News reports that the plane’s final signal was received on the website Flightradar just seconds after it took off.

Air India has shared the following statment: “Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025.

“At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates at the earliest on http://airindia.com and on our X handle (https://x.com/airindia).”

The plane had reached 625 feet, as Flightradar lists the plane as a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
