Men in Sheds, a project run by Age UK Enfield, has been named among the 10 finalists in the Selco Community Heroes campaign.
The project aims to support men in the community through “woodworking, camaraderie, and connection”.
It recently won £1,000 in building materials in the regional round of the campaign.
Now competing nationally, Men in Sheds stands a chance to win the top prize of £10,000.
Mark Huggard, Fit for Life project manager at Age UK Enfield, said: “Men in Sheds is all about giving men a place to gather, collaborate, and form friendships.
“It’s more than a workshop; it’s a lifeline for many.”
Having started with just a shipping container and donated tools, the project has expanded significantly over three years.
Winning the national prize would cover next year’s staffing costs, specialist equipment, and further growth.
The Selco Community Heroes campaign celebrates the vital work carried out by organisations all over the UK and is offering a total prize fund of £57,500 this year.
The public can vote for their favourite group of community heroes until December 14, with the winner set to be announced next January.
