The Community Schools Trust, which runs several schools including Forest Gate Community School and Cumberland Community School, received the community trust of the year award at the MAT Excellence Awards.
The trust was recognised for its work in transforming the lives of young people through education, mentorship, and support services, particularly for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
It also oversees The Excelsior Academy, Waterside Academy, and Haggerston School in Hackney.
Simon Elliott, trust chief executive, said: “This award is not just a celebration of our results, but a tribute to the dedication of our teachers, the hard work of our students, the support of families, and the strength of our community.
“At the Community Schools Trust, we are driven by the belief that every young person, regardless of their background, deserves a world-class education.
“This award is particularly meaningful to us, as it reflects our core mission—to transform lives through education.
“Our schools continue to demonstrate that with high expectations, excellent teaching, and strong pastoral care, we can help young people overcome barriers and achieve success.”
Judges praised the trust’s commitment to raising aspirations and delivering strong academic outcomes.
Both of its Newham schools were ranked among the top five in the borough for GCSE results this year, with Forest Gate taking the top spot and Cumberland placing third.
The MAT Excellence Awards celebrate the achievements of school trusts nationwide and highlight their role in improving educational standards.
