Louie Day, 23, had been driving on Chelmsford Road at 3.30am on September 5 when his black Vauxhall Corsa left the road.
The car struck a tree and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 23-year-old PC was an officer on the Met’s East Area Command, which covers Redbridge, Havering and Barking & Dagenham where he was based out of.
Chf Supt Stuart Bell said: “The Metropolitan Police are saddened to learn of the death of a serving police officer, following a collision in Essex on Friday, 5 September.

“Police Constable Louie Day, 23 worked as a response officer on the East Area Command, based from Barking and Dagenham. He joined the team in January, having previously served for two years as a PCSO.
“My deepest condolences are with the family, friends and colleagues of PC Louie Day.
“Louie was popular amongst his colleagues who are devastated to hear of his passing.
“We continue to support Essex Police with their investigation and thank them for the support they are providing to Louie’s family at this difficult time.”
According to the Serious Collision Investigation unit, it is not believed that there were any other vehicles involved in the crash.
In a statement Louie’s family said: “It is with greatest sadness that we announce the passing of our son Louie Day, a beautiful soul has left this world and will be greatly missed by all who loved him
