National Highways Limited announced the changes, which will affect the Reigate and Banstead district in Surrey.
The new regulations were formalised on March 14 and will come into effect on Monday, March 31.
Changes include a 50mph speed limit on the southbound carriageway of the A23, starting from a point 35 metres south of its junction with Dean Lane.
The limit will continue for about 460 metres on the inside lane, where motorway regulations begin, and for approximately 983 metres on the Merstham-bound outside lane, beneath the M23 overbridge.
A 40mph speed limit will be imposed on specific sections of the northbound carriageway of the A23.
The A23 is a major trunk road in the UK, connecting London to Brighton, serving south London suburbs and passing through areas like Brixton, Croydon, Redhill, Gatwick Airport, and Crawley before reaching Brighton
This includes the stretch where motorway regulations end, around 127 metres north of the centreline of the A23 southbound carriageway underbridge, extending to about 35 metres south of its junction with Dean Lane, covering around 833 metres.
The limit also applies to the section from its junction with Glebe Road (south) and its merge with the aforementioned carriageway, covering around 180 metres.
Both carriageways of the A23, from approximately 113 metres north of the centreline of its junction with Netherne Drive to about 535 metres north of the centreline of its junction with Netherne Drive, will also be subject to the 40mph restriction, covering roughly 422 metres.
Additionally, a 30mph speed limit will be enforced on both carriageways of the A23, from a point about 35 metres south of its junction with Dean Lane to a point around 113 metres north of the centreline of its junction with Netherne Drive, spanning approximately 1,185 metres.
The new regulations will replace existing orders, specifically the A23 Trunk Road (Hooley) 50 miles per hour Speed Limit Order 1998, and the Trunk Roads (40 mph speed limit) (No3) Order 1976.
A copy of the new order, along with plans illustrating the changes and the orders being revoked, can be inspected at the Surrey County Council Office, Woodhatch Place, 11 Cockshot Hill, Woodhatch, Reigate RH2 8EF during normal office hours.
They can also be viewed at Merstham Library, 2a Portland Drive, Merstham RH1 3HY, during opening hours (Monday, Tuesday, and Friday 10am – 5pm, Wednesday and Thursday 10am – 1pm, Saturday 10am – 4pm).
