The A13 has been closed for over seven hours following the crash in Rainham near the Wennington Interchange today (December 1) at 3.16am.
London Ambulance Service was called to the incident and a patient was taken to hospital as a priority.
Another person was assessed at the scene but was soon discharged.
The condition of the person in hospital is unknown at this time.
Hours later, the A13 remains closed with long delays as accident investigation work continues at the A1306.
There’s also congestion to Marsh Way in Dagenham.
Earlier, it was reported that there was heavy congestion around Ferry Lane in Rainham.
Diversions are in place via the slip roads.
The Metropolitan Police has been approached for more information.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.16am today (1 December) to reports of a road traffic collision on the A13, Rainham.
“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer.
“We treated a patient and took them to a local hospital as a priority. We assessed and discharged another patient at the scene.”
