Emergency services were alerted to the incident on the A127 Southend Arterial Road near the village of Little Warley at shortly after 11am today (March 30).
Essex Police officers were dispatched to the scene alongside the East of England Ambulance Service, where it was discovered that multiple vehicles had been involved.
The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance was flown in, and an injured child was taken by toad to Queen’s Hospital.
Disruption is ongoing along the main road, with a partial closure remaining in place.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 11.06am with reports of a road traffic collision on the A127 Southend Arterial Road near Little Warley, involving multiple vehicles.
“Three ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle, a rapid response vehicle and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.
“A child was transported by road to Queen’s Hospital for further care.”
