The Liberty Shopping Centre’s festive grotto, on selected days between November 15 and December 24, 2025, saw 3,645 children step inside the winter-themed Ice Kingdom to meet Santa and receive a free festive gift.
Funds were raised through ticket sales, with all proceeds supporting the work of Saint Francis Hospice, which provides end-of-life care and support for patients and families across the region.

Tom Stobbart, centre manager at The Liberty Romford, said: “We’re absolutely delighted by the number of attendees to our grotto, making it a sell-out this year.
“Our Christmas charity of the year, Saint Francis Hospice, is a really important cause to raise vital funds for and seeing the community come together has contributed to making this event even more successful than the previous year.
“The Liberty has now raised over £29,000 for the hospice via grotto sales in 2024 and 2025, and we’re excited to continue this partnership into 2026.”
A spokesperson for Saint Francis Hospice said: “We were overjoyed when we found out we were chosen as The Liberty’s Christmas Charity for 2025. The support The Liberty has given Saint Francis Hospice has been incredible.”
