Police were called to a casualty on the tracks at Leighton Buzzard station shortly before 7am on Saturday (January 17).
Officers arrived with paramedics and a person died at the scene.
The incident is not being treated by police as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Trains between London Euston and Milton Keynes faced major disruption after the incident, but have since returned to normal.
It affected Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern services.
One reader said stations were “absolutely rammed” as he travelled across the UK due to the incident.
His train from Euston was cancelled, so he was forced to travel to Rugby.
