Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Southall was inspected on Monday, October 27, 2025.
The gurdwara, which includes a community kitchen known as a langar that serves free meals to all visitors regardless of background or faith, was found to have major hygiene failings.
Inspectors rated “hygienic food handling” as “Improvement necessary”, while both the “cleanliness and condition of facilities and building” and “management of food safety” were rated as “major improvement necessary.”
Langar kitchens are a central part of Sikh worship, offering free meals to anyone who visits the gurdwara.
Recent visitors have commented on their experiences at the gurdwara, with Manjit Munde describing a disappointing visit.
Mr Munde said: “People say this Sikh temple offers delicious langar (free meal) and tea.
“They highlight the peaceful, spiritual and energetic atmosphere, which is true, but the serving staff are very unprofessional and speak rudely instead of offering polite advice when needed.
“My first-ever traumatic experience has put me off for life and ruined my day after my three-hour journey to receive blessings.”
Anyone wishing to see the full food safety officer’s report can request it from the local authority by email.
The gurdwara was approached for comment.
