Police were called at 1.19am today (January 16) following concerns for the welfare of a woman on scaffolding in Wellington Street.
The woman, in her 20s, subsequently fell from height and was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, where she remains.
Bus routes 53, 54, 291, 380 and 422 are currently on diversion.
Wellington Street remains closed both ways from South Circular to Thomas Street whilst the investigation continues.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “Police were called at 01:19hrs on Friday, 16 January, following concerns for the welfare of a woman on scaffolding on Wellington Street, Woolwich.
“The woman, in her 20s, subsequently fell from height and was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, where she remains.
“The road will remain closed while our investigation continues.”
