Mamma Dough has announced that its restaurant at 299 Kirkdale in Sydenham has closed for good.
The owners cited “rising costs” for the closure, which meant that they could no longer keep the Sydenham site, and that the decision wasn’t “taken lightly”.
Mamma Dough thanked the local community for their support and said it was “incredibly grateful to every guest who chose to eat with us, order from us, and support us along the way”.
All the staff from the old Sydenham branch will remain within the Mamma Dough business, the chain confirmed.
Diners can continue to eat at Mamma Dough at its other south London sites in Norwood, Ladywell and Brixton.
In a statement uploaded on social media, the chain said: “After much thought, we have made the difficult decision to close our Sydenham Mamma Dough.
“We have truly loved being part of the local community and serving so many of you over the years.
“However, rising costs mean that we can no longer afford to keep the Sydenham site open. As an independent business, these decisions are never taken lightly.
“Local support means everything to us, and we are incredibly grateful to every guest who chose to eat with us, order from us, and support us along the way.
“We’re proud to say that all members of our Sydenham team have been looked after and remain within the business.
“While this chapter is coming to an end, we hope you’ll continue to support Mamma Dough by visiting us at our other restaurants in Norwood, Ladywell, and Brixton, or by ordering your favourite pizzas through our delivery partners.
“Thank you to our customers, our landlord, and our brilliant team for the support, loyalty, and memories.
“Sydenham will always hold a special place in our story.”
