The Albert, on Princess Road, was given a rating of two when it was last inspected on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
During the inspection, it was found that improvements were needed in two key areas: hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of the facilities, including pest control, ventilation, and building layout.
The management of food safety was rated as ‘generally satisfactory.’
A spokesperson for the pub said: “There was an inspection back in September which was reported on at the time.
“Camden are coming back to re-inspect and we expect to get five stars, a lot of the report was to do with the structure of the Victorian building which is often a problem with old pubs.”
Angélique Masters, who left a review on Google, said she was “really unhappy” with her visit.
She said the experience left her feeling uncomfortable and disappointed, adding that it was upsetting given the pub is a local venue.
Ms Masters said: “I’m still quite saddened by my experience here as it is a local pub and it has really put me off going back.”
Other customers were critical, with Maria saying, “The veggie pie option was awful.
“The ‘filo’ pastry tasted and looked like crumbled up paper and the filling tasted like vegetables boiled in red wine.”S
