The emergency services were called to Holland Road at around 3pm yesterday (January 14).
A woman in her 70s was found fighting for her life and later died at the scene.
No arrests have been made and a police investigation is underway.
The incident happened on a popular route taken by school children to Kensington Olympia Overground station.
Officers are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.58pm today (14 January) to reports of a road traffic collision on Holland Road, W14.
“We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 15.01hrs on Wednesday, 14 January following reports of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian on Holland Road, Kensington.
“A woman in her 70s was found with life-threatening injuries. She was sadly later pronounced dead at the scene.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
