The emergency services were called to Canadian Avenue at around 6pm yesterday (January 13).
Officers arrived with paramedics and the air ambulance but the rider of the motorbike – a man in his 20s – died at the scene.
His next-of-kin have been informed by police and enquiries are ongoing.
Early police investigations suggest the motorbike crashed into a road barrier.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage to get in touch.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “At 17:54hrs on Tuesday, 13 January officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance responded to reports of a road traffic collision on Canadian Road, Catford.
“Early enquiries suggest a motorbike collided with a road barrier.
“Sadly despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, a man is his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was the rider of the motorbike.
“His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Enquiries continue.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or may be able to help police is asked to call the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0208 285 1574 or 101 quoting CAD 5674/13JAN.”
