Julia, 72, who lives in Blewbury House and who did not wish to provide her surname, said her property has suffered with flooding since 2018, which the housing association Peabody confirmed was caused by a crack in a water pipe.
She said the problems resurfaced on Boxing Day and have continued without resolution.
She told the News Shopper: “Since 2018, my property has suffered repeated flooding.
“For the past two and a half years, I have endured wastewater flooding into my flat,” she added, claiming that during this period she was also left without proper lighting.
Julia said Peabody, which manages the building, was fully aware of the conditions at the time but no permanent solution was put in place.
“Despite the severity of the situation, no lasting solution was implemented – and now the same problems are happening again,” she said.
Photos and videos sent to the News Shopper show Julia collecting leaking water from pipes inside her flat, as water also runs down her windows.
According to Julia, the current leak has been ongoing for almost two months, adding to what she described as a long history of similar issues dating back more than six years.
A spokesperson for Peabody said the housing association is staying “closely in touch” with the resident and is working with its contractors to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
The spokesperson added: “We’re sorry the resident has a leak in her home, which has been caused by a crack in a water pipe.”
