Paranormal Activity, inspired by the global horror phenomenon, is now running at London’s Ambassadors Theatre and booking through to Saturday, April 25, 2026.
After successful tour stops in Leeds and a North American premiere, the immersive theatrical experience has found a new home in the heart of London’s theatre district.
With critical and audience acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic, the stage adaptation reimagines the story with new characters and a fresh setting.
James and Lou, played by Patrick Heusinger and Melissa James, are a couple who relocate from Chicago to London in search of a new beginning, only to discover that it is people—not places—that are truly haunted.
The play immerses audiences in an atmosphere of escalating dread, unseen forces and psychological horror.
The Chicago Tribune described the show as “Will I be scared? Yes. How scared? Very. Cleverly, too.”
In the West End company, Heusinger and James reprise their roles from the show’s Leeds Playhouse run, joined by Pippa Winslow as Carolanne and Jackie Morrison as Etheline Cotgrave.
Cheyenne Dasri and Jake Solari join as understudies for Lou and James.
Directed by Felix Barrett—founder and artistic director of Punchdrunk—and written by playwright Levi Holloway, the production has been praised for its inventive approach to live horror.
The creative team includes Fly Davis as set and costume designer, Chris Fisher handling illusions, Anna Watson on lighting, Gareth Fry on sound and Luke Halls overseeing video design.
Released by Paramount Pictures in 2009, the original Paranormal Activity film redefined found-footage horror and became a global phenomenon, grossing nearly $200 million worldwide and spawning six sequels.
The stage adaptation, described as “relentlessly frightening” by the Metro, promises to bring that terror up close in the uniquely intimate environment of live theatre.
Patrick Heusinger, who plays James, is known for his roles in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back as well as Netflix’s Absentia and Off-Broadway’s Next Fall.
Melissa James, who plays Lou, has starred in Moulin Rouge, The Bodyguard and Gypsy, and has appeared in TV shows including Coronation Street, Holby City and Silent Witness.
The show is recommended for audiences aged 15 and above.
Evening performances at the Ambassadors Theatre will begin at 7.30pm from Friday, January 9, 2026.
