This week, from Monday, January 5 until Sunday, January 11, Southeastern services will be affected by disruption due to planned works.
Changes will affect late-night and early-morning services during the week, followed by major weekend disruption centred on Lewisham and Orpington.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Monday to Friday, January 5–9: Amended late-night and early-morning services
Engineering work is taking place overnight at a number of locations across the Southeastern network, meaning trains will be replaced by buses on several routes after late evening.
Tonbridge, Hastings and Ashford routes
- On Monday night, a replacement bus service will run between Tonbridge and Wadhurst / Hastings from 10.45pm.
- On Monday to Thursday nights, buses will replace trains between Maidstone East and Ashford International from around 11pm.
- Several late-night London Victoria and Charing Cross to Ashford International trains will be diverted via Sevenoaks, terminating early or requiring changes onto replacement buses.
- Trains between London Cannon Street / Charing Cross and Maidstone East will make extra stops at Kemsing, East Malling and Barming.
Faversham, Sheerness and Sittingbourne
- On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, buses will replace late-night services between Ebbsfleet International and Faversham, and between Sittingbourne and Sheerness-on-Sea.
Tunbridge Wells and Hastings
- On Tuesday night, buses will replace trains between Tunbridge Wells and Hastings, operating in sections via Battle, Wadhurst and Robertsbridge.
Lewisham, Orpington and Bexleyheath
- From Tuesday to Friday, trains towards Orpington and Sevenoaks will not stop at Lewisham late at night.
- On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, buses will replace trains between Beckenham Junction and Orpington.
- From Wednesday to Friday, buses will replace trains between Lewisham and Dartford / Gravesend, with services diverted via Sidcup.
Kent Coast
- On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights, buses will replace trains between Gillingham and Faversham / Herne Bay, with connecting services towards Ramsgate.
- On Wednesday and Thursday nights, a late-night St Pancras to Ramsgate service will be replaced by buses between Dover Priory and Ramsgate.
Saturday and Sunday, January 10–11: No Southeastern services via Lewisham
Major engineering work at Lewisham will close the station completely all weekend, along with the Bexleyheath line.
The following stations will be closed all day and will be served only by replacement buses:
- Lewisham
- Blackheath
- Kidbrooke
- Eltham
- Falconwood
- Welling
- Bexleyheath
- Barnehurst
Route changes
- Woolwich line: Services will run via Greenwich instead of Lewisham.
- Bexleyheath line: No trains will run between London Victoria and Dartford / Gravesend, or between Charing Cross and Dartford. Cannon Street services will divert via Sidcup.
- Hayes line: Trains will not stop at Lewisham.
- Sidcup line: Trains will not stop at Lewisham.
- Grove Park line: Trains will not call at Lewisham. On Sunday, services will only run between Charing Cross and Chislehurst.
A replacement bus service will run between New Cross and Dartford via Bexleyheath, calling at all stations.
Sunday, January 11: Further disruption
Gravesend
- The 12.30am Charing Cross to Gravesend service will only run as far as Dartford, with passengers advised to change for a Thameslink service to complete journeys.
Rochester and Rainham
- Buses will replace trains between Rochester and Rainham.
- Services to Ramsgate, Dover Priory and Margate will be shortened or diverted, with replacement buses connecting affected sections.
Orpington and Sevenoaks
- No trains will run via Orpington all day.
- Services on the Hastings, Bromley South, Grove Park and Paddock Wood lines will be shortened or diverted.
- Replacement buses will run between: Bromley South and Orpington and Chislehurst and Sevenoaks
The following stations will be closed and served only by buses:
- Petts Wood
- Orpington
- Chelsfield
- Knockholt
- Dunton Green
Alternative travel
Southeastern is advising customers that tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on:
- Docklands Light Railway between Lewisham and Greenwich
- London Underground between key central London stations
- Local London bus routes including services between Peckham, Denmark Hill, Lewisham, New Cross and Hither Green
