The list, produced by The Telegraph, claims to identify the “golden areas” of each of London’s 32 boroughs.
Two east London neighbourhoods were named in the top 10 best places to live in the city in 2026 – though no Havering locations made it into the shortlist.
Just last year, Havering was named as one of the city’s least happy places to live.
However, Hornchurch has been named as the best neighbourhood in the borough to live in for 2026.
Overall it placed at 18th of 32 boroughs.
The Telegraph considered green spaces, commuting accessibility, good schools, and more when placing each neighbourhood, consulting with local estate agencies and Hamptons.
Not only are these factors taken into account, but many of the “golden areas” of each borough share “village-like features” including a central green, or high street with independent shops.
According to The Telegraph, Hornchurch is among the London neighbourhoods that “consistently come up as most desirable” among those looking for a new home.
It has to offer green space in the form of Hornchurch Country Park, a number of pubs and restaurants, local independent businesses, and entertainment at Queen’s Theatre.
