The incident occurred shortly before 11pm on December 30 on the A12 southbound at the junction with Bow Roundabout.
A significant emergency service presence was seen responding to the crash, including the Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service, and London Fire Brigade.
London’s Air Ambulance, a charity that treats only the city’s most seriously ill patients, also responded.
A man was treated at the scene before being taken to a major trauma centre.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called on Tuesday 30 December at 10.57 pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the A12 southbound at the junction with Bow roundabout.
“We sent resources including ambulance crews, a clinical team manager, an incident response officer, a clinician in a response car and London’s air ambulance.
“We treated a man at the scene before taking him to a London major trauma centre.”
