The changes, which will include additional high-speed services and more carriages to tackle overcrowding on busy trains, will come into force on Sunday.
There will be an extra 29 high-speed services every week between St Pancras International and Faversham, and additional carriages will be added to some of the busiest trains.
It comes after the rail firm heard feedback from customers requesting an improved service.
This led to Southeastern experiencing their “busiest single day” since the Covid pandemic on December 4, with 436,000 entries and exits at the London terminals.
Rail bosses say the increased services, which will see several lines benefit from a half-hourly timetable and extra off-peak services, will meet the growing demand.
Scott Brightwell, safety, planning, and performance director for Southeastern Railway, said: “These latest changes help us to meet rising demand by increasing services where they are needed most and adds extra space for more comfort at the busiest times.”
The changes this weekend form part of the national rail timetable update that happens twice a year, usually in May and December.
This move will cater to a significant portion of the passengers using the network spanning South East London, East Sussex, and Kent.
The revised schedule includes extra weekday evening trips from Charing Cross to Dartford via Bexleyheath, ensuring a half-hourly frequency.
There will be additional rush-hour services from Charing Cross to Maidstone East, also maintaining a half-hourly frequency.
For weekend travellers, trains between Victoria and Dartford/Gravesend via Bexleyheath will be extended from four to eight carriages.
For increased customer comfort, some of the busiest services will now feature longer trains.
This will include the 7.15am from Hastings to Charing Cross and the 5.15pm Cannon Street to Hastings service, both lengthened from eight to twelve carriages.
This is part of larger improvement plans encompassing more modern amenities like air conditioning on the modern, class 377 trains.
“The modern, air-conditioned Class 377s we are bringing in to deliver better journeys is part of our wider train improvement programme, which also includes the ongoing procurement to replace our Metro fleet.”
Additionally, Southeastern says the 4.33am service from Swanley to Victoria will no longer stop at the stations between Shortlands and Brixton.
The train will now arrive at Victoria at 5am to offer an 18-minute earlier arrival for shift workers.
“Customers can check their amended services in journey planners, and the full timetables are also available on our website.”
After the operator’s busiest single day since the Covid pandemic on December 4, these changes are designed to enhance travel experiences across the network.
