The incident at the junction of Forest Road and Blackhorse Road was reported to police at around 12.30am this morning (December 12).
Officers responded alongside the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.
Responders found a car and pedestrian had crashed, with the car going on to crash into a nearby building.
The pedestrian, a 26-year-old man, was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead at 1.04am.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Officers arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He remains in custody at this time.
According to a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police, the junctions of Forest Road, Blackhorse Road, and Blackhorse Lane remain closed as the investigation continues.
