David Twydell, a greengrocer and seasonal Christmas tree seller at Chapel Market, was named Islington Market Trader of the Year 2025.
Adrian Serrano, the culinary talent behind Chapel Market’s famous paella stall, was awarded Food Trader of the Year for the third consecutive time.

Councillor Santiago Bell-Bradford, deputy leader and executive member for the inclusive economy, culture and jobs, said: “Our markets are the beating heart of Islington’s communities, and traders like David and Adrian make them truly special.
“Their passion, quality and connection with customers show why markets matter – they bring people together and offer great value products, fresh produce, fantastic food and a real sense of community.”

Mr Twydell said: “It was lovely to win the award and be voted for by so many of my loyal and loving customers.
“It means a lot and that’s why I enjoy doing what I do.”
Both winners will receive £250 off their stall rent.
The competition was open to council-licensed traders across Islington, including those at Camden Passage, Exmouth Market, and Whitecross Street.
