The performances were part of a spoken word project delivered by Write2Speak, an organisation of professional poets, writers, and actors, which led a series of creative writing and performance workshops at schools within the Enfield Town Schools’ Partnership (ETSP).
Children explored creative writing, self-expression, and performance skills.
Marianne Enchill-Balogun, headteacher at Capel Manor Primary School and partnership chair of ETSP, said: “We’re so proud to see our pupils using their voices to express what’s important to them.
“Write2Speak’s workshops have inspired our young people to be brave, creative and thoughtful – supporting our school’s aim for our pupils to increasingly develop as confident communicators.
“The showcase was a wonderful opportunity to share their words with the wider community.”

The project aimed to give children the tools to write and perform spoken word pieces on subjects of personal and social relevance, including community, identity, friendship and the environment.
The series of workshops culminated in a live performance at Enfield’s Dugdale Arts Centre, where pupils delivered their original work in front of families, friends, and school staff.

Write2Speak, whose mission is to empower young voices through spoken word, uses poetry and performance to build confidence and communication skills.
The partnership with ETSP helps children build confidence, communication skills, and empathy through storytelling and performance.
The workshops fostered inclusivity and friendship in a supportive environment that encouraged every child to participate.
