Southeastern trains were cancelled this morning (December 4) after emergency services were called to the incident at 5.46am.
A London Air Ambulance and other ambulances attended, but a person died at the scene.
Emergency Services blocked off the A205 South Circular near Doggett Road during this time.
They left the scene after 8am, but delays on the Southeastern continued due to another train being unable to move down the line towards Hayes.
The train has since been moved, with all lines reopen, but disruption is expected to last until 10am.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.46am today (4 December) to reports of a person hit by a train near Catford Bridge station, south east London.
“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“Sadly, a person died at the scene.”
The British Transport Police has been approached for more information.
