The consumer guide’s monthly analysis revealed that Aldi was yet again the cheapest supermarket for a basket of 70 essential items this month – marking the supermarket’s ninth win this year.
The total price for a comparable basket at Aldi was found to be £16.18 less than at Morrisons. Meanwhile, the same basket of goods at Sainsbury’s was £20.40 more expensive, and Tesco’s total came in at £14.98 higher.
The Aldi shop was £45.57 cheaper than the most expensive supermarket, Waitrose. With the money Brits could save simply by swapping to Aldi, shoppers can have a little extra spending money for those all important, last minute Christmas shops.
Further analysis also highlights that shoppers opting for Aldi over Waitrose, could have saved nearly £483.16 over the past year – more than the average Brit spends on the whole Christmas season.
The new research from Which? also looked at prices using a Tesco Clubcard, Sainsbury’s Nectar or the Lidl Plus app.
