North London’s seven Reuse and Recycling Centres, managed by LondonEnergy, recorded approximately 286,000 visitors between June and September 2025—an average of more than 2,360 visitors each day.
This represents a 13 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Katie Blowes, waste operations manager at LondonEnergy, said: “We want to thank the residents of North London for their ongoing commitment to using these recycling facilities.
“Your efforts are vital in helping us reduce waste and in preserving valuable resources.
“This plays a crucial role in developing a less wasteful and more circular economy, where materials are reused and recycled for future generations.”
The rise in visitor numbers has been attributed to population growth, changing attitudes towards sustainability, and increased awareness through campaigns by LondonEnergy and partner boroughs, including
Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington, and Waltham Forest.

Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.
The opening of the new recycling and reuse centre at Edmonton Eco-Park is also thought to have contributed to the rise.
The facility features a split-level bay design, improved accessibility, and shelter from the weather, making it more convenient for public use.
The site accepts more than 150 types of items, including household waste, electrical appliances, and garden refuse.
