The Alderman in Chippenham Road has appeared on Havering Council’s publicly available licensing list, in an application made by Cubitt Taverns Ltd.
The pub has been in the spotlight in recent weeks as talks continue about its potential replacement once it is demolished as part of the Chippenham Road regeneration.
Its demolition is expected to make way for almost 140 new homes.
A replacement pub depends on its feasibility and, according to Havering Council, it is “still negotiating details with the head-lessee of the Alderman”.
In a document published this week, Cubitt Taverns Ltd has applied to the council to vary the premises licence to allow for “an additional 30 minutes to licensable activity and opening hours”.

The Alderman is also referred to here as the ‘Alderman Arms’.
The latest development in relation to the watering hole has come as a surprise to landlady of ten years, Sandy Wyatt, who has confirmed to this paper that she was unaware of the application.
Sandy previously expressed in October she, alongside customers of The Alderman, had been feeling “left in the dark” about the future of the pub.
