HMRC has publicly shared details of the people and businesses who were found to have made deliberate errors in their tax returns, or those who deliberately failed to comply with tax obligations.
Each case has been investigated, resulting in one or more penalties being issued for deliberate defaults involving tax of more than £25,000.
A utilities ground worker in Romford has received a penalty of £15,020.36 for defaulting on tax between April 6 2022, and April 5, 2024.
Ionica Marian of 12 Shaftesbury Road was found to have made the deliberate errors on £33,011.81 of tax.
HMRC has issued Jay Thomas Hopkins, in the roofing and cladding trade, with a £28,673.36 penalty after errors were found on £43,117.85 of tax.
The errors were made between April 6, 2022, and April 5, 2024, when Hopkins was formerly addressed to 74 Wood Lane.
A wholesaler formerly addressed to 103 Betterton Road, Rainham, is among those named and shamed.
Deliberate defaults made by Linktechnix Ltd were discovered on tax worth £43,265.
The errors, made between November 1, 2023, and January 31, 2024, have incurred a penalty of £34,612.
Nelu Costel Rosu, addressed to 19 Rowdowns Road in Dagenham, was found to have defaulted on tax between April 6, 2018, and April 5, 2024.
The general builder defaulted on tax of £64,658.17, resulting in a penalty of £40,411.38.
According to the HMRC they were formerly of 163 Hooper Road, Custom House.
A builders merchant formerly addressed to 3A Crossness Road, Barking, has been penalised £123,705.31 for errors made on £186,725 in tax.
Essex Building Supplies Ltd were found to have made the defaults between February 1, 2020, and October 31, 2020.
A steel fixer in Barking has been named after defaulting on tax worth £43,154.25.
Beniamin Vasile of 34 Aldersey Gardens has received a penalty of £28,697.57 for the deliberate mistakes made on tax return between April 6, 2022, and April 5, 2024.
Daryon Constructions Ltd, of 5 Fifth Avenue, Manor Park, was found to have made deliberate errors on tax between September 1, 2023, and January 31, 2024.
The business, in the trade of developing building projects, defaulted on tax worth £73,940 and has incurred a penalty of £34,936.64.
In East Ham, another construction business was found to have defaulted on tax.
Bukovnia Ltd, which previously traded as Building and Finishing, was formerly addressed to 18 Talbot Road and 41 Manse Road, Telford.
HMRC discovered deliberate errors on £369,269 of tax between August 1, 2022, and April 5 2023.
A penalty of £258,488.30 has been issued.
A building projects company with a former address at 30 St Bartholomews Road, East Ham, was also found to have tax defaulted.
Mtah Ltd made deliberate errors on £62,955 of tax between March 1, 2024, and May 31, 2024, resulting in a penalty to match this sum.
A second tax defaulter with a former address in St Bartholomews Road has been issued with a £32,049.34 penalty.
Iulian Coteanu had been previously registered to 15 St Bartholomews Road, 66 Natal Road, Ilford, and Flat 2 Birch Treet House, Charlton.
The carpenter was found to have made deliberate errors on tax worth £48,376.40 between April 6, 2017, and April 5, 2023.
A jewellery sales company formerly addressed to 20 Derifall Close, Beckton, has been penalised £33,633.33 after defaulting on tax between January 27, 2023, and June 30, 2024.
Izegoldwatches Ltd made deliberate errors on its tax equating to the same sum.
Another east London plasterer has been labelled as a tax defaulter, this time addressed to 9 Sylvester Road, Walthamstow.
HMRC discovered deliberate errors on tax from Ovidiu Poniava between April 6, 2021, and April 5, 2024.
The defaults were made on £43,410.73 in tax, incurring a penalty of £28,108.43.
Robina Habib Chohan, in the trade of rental income and capital gains, defaulted on tax worth £561,121.26 between April 6, 2013, and April 5, 2022.
The tax defaulter was formerly addressed to 106 Ilford Lane, Ilford, and is addressed at Hillcroft, 36 Church Lane, Loughton.
HMRC issued a penalty of £268,917.65.
A construction services company has been penalised £110,373.20 for defaulting on tax between April 6, 2022, and July 5, 2022, and between September 6, 2022, and January 5, 2023.
Marola Expert Services Ltd, formerly of 230 High Road Leytonstone, was discovered to have made deliberate errors on £151,676.05 and has been issued with a penalty of £110,373.20.
D.G.S Interiors Ltd of 27 Crown Road, Ilford, has been named as a deliberate tax defaulter for errors made between April 6, 2020, and April 5, 2021.
The plastering business defaulted on £71,963.20 in tax and has received a penalty of £39,579.76.
Mohammad Aktaruzzaman, of Flat G04 Hodgeson House, 26 Christian Street, Whitechapel, is self employed and in the business of property income.
HMRC discovered discrepancies on £112,304.16 in tax between April 6, 2013, and April 5, 2021.
Aktaruzzaman was formerly addressed to 149 Commercial Road, Whitechapel, and has been given a penalty of £51,940.64

Rupinder Singh Grewal, formerly of 11 Glenthorne Gardens, Ilford, defaulted on tax worth £39,478.40 across two periods.
The errors were noticed between April 6, 2018, and April 5, 2019, and again between April 6, 2020, and April 5, 2021.
HMRC has issued a penalty of £20,726.16.
