Victoria Park, affectionately known as Vicky Park and owned and managed by Tower Hamlets Council, has been named by Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award team as one of its People’s Choice parks in the UK following a national vote by members of the public.
The outcome of this year’s vote means that Victoria Park has retained the People’s Choice title for a 13th consecutive year.
The park is also the only park in London in the top 10 this year.
Councillor Kamrul Hussain, cabinet member for culture and recreation, said: “Parks and green spaces are havens of welcome, leisure, and solace for all.
“Victoria Park, the largest in our borough, draws over nine million visitors each year to enjoy community events, live music, and sport.
“Thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers, it’s a place we’re proud to call ours. My thanks to everyone who voted and helped secure this prestigious award.”

Green Flag Award manager Paul Todd MBE said The People’s Choice awards help people “recognise the hard work done by the thousands of parks staff and volunteers up and down the country”.
He added: “Victoria Park and the other nine winning sites represent some of the UK’s hardest working individuals and groups working within our highest quality parks – and this has clearly been recognised and appreciated by the public.
“We want to say a huge congratulations to everyone involved.”
The Green Flag Award scheme is managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy in partnership with Keep Wales Tidy, Keep Scotland Beautiful and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.
