This week, SWR shared a video on social media featuring some unusual items lost on their services.
Among them, a homemade musical instrument resembling a hurdy-gurdy has drawn a lot of attention.
A hurdy-gurdy is a stringed instrument that produces sound using a hand-cranked wheel that rubs against the strings.
It was popular in the Renaissance and is still used in folk music today.
Commenter @velveteen.bard noted: “The musical instrument (which looks like it was made from a kit) is a hurdy-gurdy, a medieval drone instrument I play!”
Another commenter suggested the instrument might belong to a mutual friend, Ben, pondering the likelihood of two people misplace a hurdy-gurdy on the same train.
In response to the online buzz, the SWR team is eager to reunite the instrument with its rightful owner.
A SWR spokesperson said: “We see a huge variety of belongings come through lost property, but the hurdy-gurdy may just take the crown as the most weird and wonderful.
“We understand how stressful it can be to lose something, especially an item as unique and personal as this.”
SWR encourages anyone who believes the instrument may be theirs to visit the SWR lost property page.
There, people can use the lost and found database to track down their belongings.
