The retail giant issued an urgent recall warning about the dungarees, rompers, and sweater sets after discovering they don’t meet the requirement of British standard testing.
The product presents risk of injuries as some of the poppers have been incorrectly fitted and have rough edges.
This means the product could lead to infants ‘receiving cuts or scrapes’.

Shoppers, who bought the clothing items between July 13th 2025 and October 17th 2025, are urged to return the product to their local Matalan store for a full refund.
The recall notice affects C321633 Herringbone Dungarees in Beige, C321625 Bear 3D Jersey Dungarees, C321624 Print Dungarees & Tee in Oatmeal, C321632 Floral Jersey Romper, C321623 Unisex Bear Quilted Sweat Set, C321634 Unisex Bear Quilted Romper, C331713 Quilted Crew Sweat and Jog Grey.
A Matalan spokesperson said: “It’s come to our attention that the above dungarees, rompers and sweat sets do not meet our usual high standards for quality and safety, as there’s a risk that poppers have been incorrectly fitted and could cause injury.
“As customer safety is our highest priority, we’re immediately recalling these dungarees.
“If you have bought any of the dungarees shown above, please do not use the product and return it at your earliest convenience to your nearest Matalan store where our staff will be happy to give you a full refund.
“You will not need to produce a receipt to claim a refund.
“If you bought the above product for someone else or know someone who has one then please let them know immediately about this notice.
“We pride ourselves on delivering great quality at great prices and we’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused.
“Please note this recall does not affect any other Matalan product.”
An Office for Product Safety & Standards spokesperson said: “The products present a risk of injuries as some of the poppers have rough edges, which may lead to infants receiving cuts or scrapes.
“The products don’t meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
“Consumers should stop using the product immediately and return it to their nearest store for a refund.”
