The incident between a pedestrian and a bus happened in Peartree Lane, Greenwich at 12.17am today (November 17).
Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and a woman was taken to hospital.
Her condition was assessed as life-threatening.
No arrests have been made, and the police are continuing their investigation.

The road has been closed for crash investigation work on Peartree Way northbound from Horn Lane to Bugsby’s Way.
This has resulted in a detour for bus routes 180, 472, and 486.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 12.17am on Monday, 17 November following reports of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian on Peartree Lane, Greenwich.
“A woman in her 30s was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service, where she remains in a life-threatening condition.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
“Anyone with information that could help police should contact 101 quoting CAD 89/17Nov.”
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.16am today (17 November) to reports of a road traffic collision in Bugsby’s Way, Greenwich.
“We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene.
“We also dispatched a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance in a car.
“We treated a patient at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
