Havering Council will meet on Wednesday (November 19) to debate topics ranging from police stations to school streets schemes, as well as discussing councillors’ questions on a variety of areas.
Among the motions for debate are the school street zone trials being implemented in the borough, with the Conservatives calling for a new trial to be paused “due to poor implementation, lack of public consultation and misleading/conflicting information”.
It is not clear which trial this is referring to, however the council recently launched a new consultation on extending a trial around The Brittons Academy in Rainham.
Labour also called on the administration to “work with all members to address these concerns”, while Havering Residents Association, which leads the council, said it will “review enforcement” as part of the debate.

Other issues put forward include the reduction of opening hours at Romford Police Station, which the Conservatives and Labour are calling for the Metropolitan Police to “reverse” and “review its decision” respectively.
Also on the agenda are councillors’ questions, including one from Cllr Jane Keane about increasing lighting levels in Romford town centre subways to enhance pedestrian safety.
Meanwhile, Cllr Judith Holt is set to ask about the total amount borrowed to finance the Bridge Close development, and Cllr Nisha Patel will question what steps the council is taking to increase health infrastructure in Romford, given the number of potential new housing developments.
