The all-important stars and Bib Gourmands are handed out once a year at the Michelin Guide ceremony, but new entries are added to the guide selection every month on the website and app.
The October live editions include two north London dining spots – Rogues in Hackney and Don’t Tell Dad in Queen’s Park.
Rogues opened their permanent location in Hackney Road in March 2022 following a succession of pop ups before and after lockdown.
Friends and co-founders Zac Whittle and Freddie Sheen met as chefs at the classic Galvin brothers’ establishment Galvin La Chapelle.
And they have designed their rustic restaurant with mix and match wooden tables set amid bright prints on exposed concrete walls.
On their website they describe themselves as “a small, tight-knit group of friends working tirelessly at something they love, and who are every bit as passionate about sharing their obsession with others”.
Inspectors liked the informal vibe and daily changing seasonal menu of sharing plates served with natural wines.
They write: “You can expect interesting and full-flavoured dishes such as grilled Bobby beans with piperade, smoked almonds and cherries, in which the flavours and textures all work together beautifully. In a fun twist on the traditional, they serve a roast dinner on Mondays. The genial service team run things well.”
Meanwhile Daniel Land opened his restaurant Don’t Tell Dad in Lonsdale Road in January.
The avowedly neighbourhood restaurant serves pastries, sandwiches, coffee and bakery goods by day, and in the evening switches to fine wines and upmarket Anglo-French fare – such as crab tart and watercress, and spiced mallard with celeriac.
With its green velvet seating and blonde wood features, the dining spot is dedicated to Daniel’s late sister Lesley and inspired by their childhood escapades, which would always start with ‘Don’t tell Dad’.
Inspectors say: “There’s a lovely vintage feel to the place, which also operates as a bakery during the day.
“Start with snacks such as the moreish truffle and cheddar beignets, before considering hearty sharing mains such as wing rib of beef with bone marrow butter.
“Ensure you save room for the freshly baked madeleines to finish too.”
