The Bishops Avenue, often known as Billionaires’ Row, will have traffic restricted while a tower crane is dismantled for the a development at the luxury Riverstone retirement home.
A public notice has been put forward for a temporary road closure to be in place for works commencing on December 4 to dismantle the crane.
The order will close the road from number 58 to number 54.
A no waiting, loading or parking restriction will be enforced from 1pm on December 4 and will be in effect until 8pm on December 8.
Then a road closure will be enforced from 6am on December 5 until 8pm on December 8.
A signed diversion will also be in place for cars travelling east on Aylmer Road, diverting traffic from there to Winnington Road, Hampstead Lane and vice versa.
For cars travelling west on Aylmer Road the diversion will be from Aylmer Road, Archway Road, North Hill, North Road Hampstead Lane and vice versa.
There are contingency dates in case the dismantling can’t proceed due to weather, the notice states.
The contingency dates are from December 11 to December 15.
If this is the case, then the same vehicle restrictions will apply from 1pm on December 11 to 8pm on December 15 – with a road closure enforced from 7am on December 12 until 8pm on December 15.
This over 65s retirement home features 93 lats and over six storeys – offering residents amenities such as a pool, spa, cinema, and ballroom, set within extensive woodland gardens.
Work began at the site in August 2022 to make way for the building.
