Emergency services were called to Becontree Avenue today (November 7) at 12.03am following the report being made.
A phone is alleged to have been stolen in the incident, the Metropolitan Police said.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was injured during the robbery and was treated at the scene.
He was then taken to hospital for further information, where his injuries were deemed to be not life-threatening or life-changing.
No arrests have been made at this stage.
A large stretch of Becontree Avenue has been cordoned by police, with officers also seen near Bennett’s Castle Lane.
According to a Met Police spokesperson, officers have remained there for nearly 14 hours to “gather as much as forensic evidence as possible”.
A Met spokesperson said: “Officers responded to reports of an robbery in Becontree Avenue, Dagenham at 00:03hrs on Friday, 7 November. A phone is alleged to have been stolen in the incident.
“The victim, a man in his 30s, was injured during the robbery and was treated at the scene paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, before being taken to hospital for further observation.
“His condition has since been confirmed as not life-threatening or life-changing.
“No arrests have been made at this stage.”
