Aerial shots show that a large section of the new flyover is now in place, extending completely over the roundabout from Eastern Avenue East.
Just more than a week ago, there was still a section missing to join up with the central panels, but this has now been installed.

A further set of panels and steel supports have also been constructed where Southend Arterial Road (A127) connects with the junction, to begin the final stretch of the flyover along this road.
However, no more steel supports are in place yet along Southend Arterial Road, with drone photos adjacent to Gallows Corner Retail Park appearing to show ground works still ongoing here.

In a letter to businesses and residents in September, Transport for London (TfL) explained that construction of the new flyover would start from the eastern side – contrary to its original plan to construct from both east and west and meet in the middle.

Once all the steelworks and concrete panels are in place to form the new flyover deck, the final stages are to join the panels together, waterproof the structure and resurface the carriageway.

Gallows Corner has now been fully closed to traffic for more than four months – with Transport for London (TfL) yet to confirm a reopening date.
The delay to the project, announced in August, is due to “unforeseeable problems” with ground conditions around where Essex & Suffolk Water are replacing a water main pipe along the A127, TfL previously told this paper.
