The incident was reported between Southend Victoria and Wickford at around 5.30am today (November 7).
All lines between these stations are closed as the incident is being dealt with.
Greater Anglia trains are cancelled in full between Southend Victoria and London Liverpool Street.
Disruption is expected until 9am.
