Police have taped off a parade of shops on Essex Road following an incident yesterday (November 4) at 3.59pm.
The crime scene remains in place this morning (November 5), with access restricted to a few shops including a post office.
A London Air Ambulance and other ambulances were called to the scene, with paramedics arriving within three minutes.
Medics treated a man at the scene before taking him to hospital.
His condition is currently unknown at this time.
Details about the incident itself have not been confirmed by police, but the Metropolitan Police has been approached for further information.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.59pm on Tuesday 4 November to reports of an incident on Essex Road, Islington.
“We sent ambulance crews and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“Our first paramedics arrived on scene in three minutes.
“We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
