Clair Norris, who played Bernie Taylor on the BBC show for eight years, left Albert Square when she and her in-show cousin Felix Baker, played by Matthew James Morrison, stole £25,000 from the Panesar family.
However, a return of their previous character is unlikely, with the Panesars still after their heads.
EastEnders star Clair Norris could return to the BBC soap in a very different role
Speaking about what lies ahead for her, Clair Norris said that she would love to star in the BBC show in a more “glam” role.
The EastEnders star told The Sun: “I’d definitely like to play somebody different from Bernie. Maybe someone glam or maybe someone, I don’t know, rock, emo, chick. But yeah, something completely different would be great.”
She added: “I love soap, and now that I’ve got quite a few years of experience in it, I really appreciate how it all works. Some people come into soap and don’t take to it… they find the pace too fast or the constant adapting to new lines a bit much.
“But for me, that’s what I love about it. It’s the best way of working, in my opinion. I’d definitely love to do soap again.”

Leaving her role four months ago, the star told fans at the time: “My last ep airs tonight and with that comes a flood of memories… EastEnders was my first audition, and my first job. Having come from college & having no experience in this industry, Julia, Wayne & Sean all took a chance on me to play Bernadette Taylor & for that, I can’t be thankful enough.
“8 years later and honestly this job, has changed my life. It’s true what they all said at the beginning, EastEnders is one big family & I’m so lucky to have met and worked with some amazing people.”
She added: “I will always have an attachment to Bernie, she represents so many girls out there who wear their heart of their sleeves and don’t quite fit in…no offence to anyone who wear purple coats …I have adored playing her and she will forever hold a special place in my heart. This has been the best first role ever!!!”
