Police were called to a casualty on the tracks near Northumberland Park station at around 1.15pm today (November 3).
Officers arrived with paramedics but a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
Train lines between Cheshunt and Hackney Downs stations were closed following the incident.
This meant Overground, Greater Anglia and Stansted Express services were cancelled or delayed by an hour.
National Rail confirmed at the time that this was due to a person being hit by a train.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just before 1.15pm today (3 November) near Northumberland Park underground station.
“Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased.
“The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
